Cruise the Main Street of America all the way from Los Angeles to Chicago over two weeks. Starting in Santa Monica, this self drive road trip will take you through 9 US states along Route 66 and includes cities such as Amarillo, Oklahoma City and St Louis with side trips to the amazing Grand Canyon and two nights in Las Vegas.
A convertible car, such as a Ford Mustang or Chevy Camaro is included in this great price. Or, if you prefer you can opt for an SUV.

You’ll arrive at Los Angeles airport, collect your rental car and make the short drive to Santa Monica for your first two nights. Enjoy the ocean, downtown LA and the local attractions such as Hollywood Boulevard and the famous Hollywood sign.

Las Vegas (2 nights)
Today you’ll start your Route 66 journey out of LA and towards the mountains. You’ll pass the Wigwam Motel, drive through Barstow and into Las Vegas, known as Sin City complete with it’s famous Neon lights, extravagant resorts and endless casinos. You’ll stay two nights here.

Day 5:
The Grand Canyon
As you leave the neons and resorts behind you, you’ll pass Hoover Dam which is worth a photo op. Then you’ll head south to Kingman, Arizona to pick up Route 66 again. Get an early night, you’ll want to catch sunrise at the Grand Canyon. Conveniently your hotel is only minutes from the South Rim.

Day 6:
The Petrified Forest
You’ve got an easy drive today but set an early alarm if you want to see sunrise at the Grand Canyon. In Winslow, you may want pose “Standing on the Corner”; lyrics made famous by the Eagles. Tonight you’ll stay in a concrete wigwam and may want to spend a couple of hours at the nearby Petrified Forest.

Santa Fe
Drive East past the Petrified Forest National Park and into New Mexico. You’ll drive through the old Route 66 cities of Gallup and Grants before Albuquerque and into Santa Fe, the wonderful historic city and New Mexico state capital.

Amarillo, Texas
Today you’ll drive through Tucumcari which has a 1950s feel to it with several restored motels along the route. You’ll pass Glenrio, a ghost town on the Texas/New Mexico border and then Adrian, Texas which is the half way point of Route 66. You’ll want a photo at Cadillac Ranch before arriving at your Amarillo motel.

Oklahoma City
Route 66 cuts through the Texas panhandle - On the list of must-see places today is the U-Drop Inn in Shamrock, Route 66 Museum in Clinton and the historic Provine Service Station in Hydro. Oklahoma City is a wonderful place to explore and Bricktown is where you’ll find the nightlife!

Springfield
You’ll visit 3 US states today! Highlights include the Blue Whale of Catoosa, 9 foot wide "sidewalk highway” section of 66 and the short 13 mile stretch of Route 66 in Kansas. Today you’ll pass through the Ozarks, visit Devil’s Elbow and stop to see the historic hotels and bars in the Route 66 towns of Lebanon and Cuba before arriving in St Louis. You can take a trip to the top of the majestic Gateway Arch, the highest National Park in the US!

There's just 100 miles from St Louis to Springfield, IL. Today you’ll be able to drive a short section of the original brick road in Auburn. Your destination, Springfield is the Illinois state capital and famously associated with Abraham Lincoln who lived here and is buried in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
