11 night self-drive holiday enjoying historical sites of the United States

You will begin your trip at Boston, famous for the Boston Tea Party and of course Harvard is in nearby Cambridge. You’ll then head down to New York City for three nights to enjoy all of the attractions of this busy city. Head down to Philadelphia to visit Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed and then onto Lancaster where you’ll visit an Amish Village. Finally you’ll head to Washington DC via Gettysburg where the famous Gettysburg Address was delivered. In DC you will be able to see the White House and a huge number of atttractions including the wonderful Smithsonian museums.

Boston is a great city to spend a few days. Explore the delights of Faneuil Hall, Quincy Market and take a trip to nearby Harvard. The Boston Tea Party Museum has a wonderful interactive historical experience

Days 3 - 5:
The Big Apple (3 nights)

Head south to New York for the next 3 nights. We’ll book you into a hotel in Queens where you can more easily park and is only a couple of stops on the subway from Grand Central. Take a trip up the Empire State Building, eat lunch in Central Park and shop down 5th Avenue.

Day 6:
Philadelphia

Head to Philadelphia and visit Independence Hall, a World Heritage Site where both the consitution was signed and, on the 4th July 1776, the delaration of Independence was signed. Philadelphia contains an incredible 67 National Historic Landmarks.

Amish Village

Make the short drive to Lancaster, one of the oldest inland cities in the USA.  The local Amish community is America’s oldest Amish settlement and thousands still live the centuries- old lifestyle. Tours of the community and buggy rides are available locally.

You’ll head to Gettysburg to see where the Gettysburg Address was delivered by Lincoln in 1863 before heading to Washington DC where you’ll spend the final 2 nights enjoying the many museums and historical buildings and sites.
