Rocky Mountaineer: Passage to the Peaks

A spectacular Rockies journey linking Jasper, Kamloops and Banff in luxurious daylight train travel

Experience the Canadian Rockies at their finest on Rocky Mountaineer’s Passage to the Peaks Classic, a stunning 5-night itinerary travelling between Jasper, Kamloops and Banff. This memorable journey blends two days of luxury daylight rail with restful nights in two of Canada’s most iconic mountain destinations. Starting with time to explore Jasper National Park, you’ll enjoy mountain vistas, tranquil lakes, wildlife and crisp alpine air before boarding the Rocky Mountaineer for your rail journey through the dramatic interior of British Columbia.

The route crosses the Continental Divide, traces the North Thompson River, and showcases highlights such as Pyramid Falls, the soaring face of Mount Robson, remote ranchlands, Rogers Pass, the Spiral Tunnels and the majestic peaks of the Rockies. After your overnight in Kamloops, the train continues to Banff, where a full free day allows you to experience gondola rides, hot springs, wildlife encounters or peaceful mountain strolls.

Because the route runs in both directions, you can travel from Jasper to Banff or vice versa — giving you flexibility to tailor the trip to your travel plans. Extend your trip down to the Columbia Icefield, Lake Louise and Banff or down to Calgary. Or we can build an extended trip with car or RV rental for you.
