Flying to and from Denver in Colorado, you’ll drive a loop visiting some of the most stunning places in the USA including the first National Park; Yellowstone which has some amazing natural springs and geysers, including the famous “Old Faithful” and even its own Grand Canyon of Yellowstone! You’ll also be able spend time at Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse Monuments, drive through Needle’s Eye Tunnel, visit Wild West towns such as Buffalo Bill’s “Cody” in Wyoming, Deadwood and Glenwood Springs. You can visit some epic National Parks such as Rocky Mountains, Grand Teton, Badlands, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands and Arches! This trip really should be on your bucket list!

Fly into Denver, known as the Mile High City and stay here for your first night. Relax and get adjusted to the time difference in preparation for the start of your epic road trip tomorrow morning!

Your first overnight stop will be in Cheyenne, the Wyoming state capital. With a rich history in the old west there are plenty of attractions here, two of our favourites are the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum and the Wyoming State Capitol Building.

Mount Rushmore (2 nights)
You’ll head up to South Dakota today and stay in Keystone for the next two nights. You’ll have a full day to visit Mount Rushmore, the famous rock sculpture of four former presidents, Crazy Horse Memorial and you may also want to visit the nearby Badlands National Park with its dramatic and rugged landscape

Head west to Sheridan, making a little detour to see the amazing Devils Tower National Monument before arriving at your overnight stop near Bighorn National Forest. Downtown Sheridan is worth a visit too.

Cody
Today you’ll head into Cody, founded by William "Buffalo Bill” Cody in 1901. There are plenty of Buffalo Bill museums and signs of the old west in this wonderful town which is located just 50 miles from Yellowstone’s east entrance.

Days 7 - 9:
Yellowstone NP (3 nights)
Enjoy the scenic drive into Yellowstone, the US’s first national park. Established in 1872 it is home to hundreds of species of wildlife including bears, wolves, bison, antelope and elk. Staying here for three nights gives you time to explore the park and its forests, rivers, hot springs and geysers including Old Faithful.

Canyonlands & Arches (2 nts)
Moab will be your base for the next two nights and is the perfect location to visit Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. Both of these have wonderful rock formations and an abundance of wildlife inhabit each of these parks.

Glenwood Springs
Glenwood Springs is a lovely town to break up your journey, although this can be removed if time doesn’t allow. Soak in the one of the amazing natural hot springs. Doc Holliday was shot at the Glenwood Hotel and you can make the short hike to see his grave!

USEFUL TIP!
For this holiday, we recommend purchasing an “America The Beautiful” annual pass, which covers entrance fees to many of the US National Parks. This can be purchased at The Grand Canyon visitor center. Please note that the pass is not accepted at sites on tribal land such as Monument Valley or Four Corners where entrance fee must be paid in cash.

Rocky Mountain National Park, CO
The Rocky Mountain National Park is home to wildlife including elks and bears and has many hiking trails to explore. Estes Park, at the entrance to the national park is a relatively short drive from Denver. We can add this as an extra day between Denver and Cheyenne.
Extra night in Cody, WY
You’ll stay in Cody for one night before you enter the East entrance to Yellowstone National Park. We can add an extra day or two for you to stop and enjoy this old west town. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West has 5 museums where you can learn about William F Cody’s life.
Monument Valley, UT
About 150 miles south of Moab is the Magnificent Monument Valley which is well worth an overnight stop. As you approach the area you’ll notice the famous view used for countless western films. Make sure you arrive in plenty of time for the sunset, it’s astonishing!
