Inspired by Nick Knowles’ 2023 Channel 5 TV series “Into the Grand Canyon” sponsored by RouteTrip USA, we have built a trip for you to enjoy a similar experience including a ride on the Grand Canyon Railway.
You’ll visit Las Vegas, the amazing Death Valley National Park, take a ride to the Grand Canyon South Rim aboard the Grand Canyon Railway and then spend a couple of nights in a cabin near the West Rim where, if you’re brave enough you can go on the Skywalk and even the zipwire over the canyon.
Remember - All our holidays can be shortened or extra nights added or modified with upgraded hotels, car etc. We love building tailor made road trip holidays!

Arrive in Las Vegas
You’ll arrive in Las Vegas for your first night. Collect your rental car and then head to your airport hotel to relax. Get some rest tonight because tomorrow your road trip will begin with a trip to Death Valley!

Death Valley National Park
Make the drive west to California and into Death Valley National Park; one of the hottest places on earth! It’s the largest US National Park outside of Alaska at 3.4 million acres. You will be staying in Furnace Creek right in the middle of the National Park - perfect for exploring…. carefully!

Days 3 - 5:
Las Vegas (3 nights)
Back to Las Vegas for the next three nights and this time you’ll be right on the famous strip. Experience Vegas, enjoy a show and some of the attractions such as the Mob Museum and Neon Boneyard. The amazing Red Rock Canyon and Valley of Fire are both just a short drive from Las Vegas too!

Williams (2 nights)
Head to the historic town of Williams and even drive some of old Route 66 if you like! You will stay here for the next two nights and experience a day taking the Grand Canyon Railway to the Grand Canyon South Rim and back into Williams; a charming town with a real wild west feel!

Days 8 & 9:
Grand Canyon West
Head back up the scenic US-64 and you may choose to drive sections of Route 66 to Kingman. Lunch in Seligman is highly recommended! Then drive the scenic route to your cabin near Grand Canyon West. Enjoy your evening on the ranch, tomorrow you will visit the Grand Canyon West and maybe the Skywalk or, if you’re feeling brave, the zipwire!

Fly Home
Check out of your cabin at the Grand Canyon and get ready for your flight home this afternoon. It is an easy 2 hours drive to Las Vegas Airport so you may like to do some last minute shopping at one of Las Vegas’ outlet centres before your flight! Of course, we can always book an extra night or two before you fly home.

Sedona, AZ
Just an hour south of your route, Sedona is a small city surrounded by red rock buttes, steep canyons and pine forests with Slide Rock and Red Rock State Parks in the immediate vicinity. An overnight stop either here or in Flagstaff would give more time to explore the area.
Death Valley, CA
Just a couple of hours west of Las Vegas lies Death Valley, National Park - one of the hottest places on earth. We recommend spending a full day here, perhaps with an overnight stay at the wonderful The Oasis Resort
Petrified Forest
Just off your route and along the original Route 66 is the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest. It’s easy to spend several hours gazing at the wonderful views as you drive around stopping at vista points for photo opportunities or hikes.
